2012 Jostens Photo Contest

My favorite photo is one of two boys hugging excitedly as the crowd cheers behind them. Rule of Thirds is prominent and the colors in this photo are very bright and beautiful.

THE STORY

Everyone seems to be praying about an unknown conflict. it shows nice emotion. (Though I don't like how the white balance is such a yellow color)

ACTION/EMOTION

They are having a good time and messing around with each other.

FILLING THE FRAME

The frame is filled because of the two subjects, along with the darkness surrounding them.

Doctored Photo

I believe that manipulating the photo is not the correct way of journaling because it is false and not truthful. Why pretend its the truth and mislead your audience? How is lying to your readers going to benefit the story correctly? Making a man more dark skinned or adding another missile to a photo going to make it so extreme of a story until everyone finds out its fake is not the way Id like to go about my stories.

The bottom photo was altered to take out the females in the cabinet. These woman worked their way to be there any you are taking them out? It is very unethical and dishonest. Why can't we show the woman? Does their gender offend anyone? It shouldn't if it does. They are humans to and are as smart as the men in that cabinet as well.

Famous Black and White Photographers PART 2

Garry Winogrand was a photographer from the Bronx in New York. He took photos on the streets that reminded him of "The American Lifestyle" in the mid 20th century. He photographed everyday woman on the street, famous actors, hippies, animals, and many other subjects.
Garry was born on January 14, 1928 in New York, New York and died on March 19, 1984 in Tijuana, Mexico. Winogrand's education was splitted between The New School and Columbia University.

Post Shoot Reflection

1. I really wanted to be unique with my work! I tried my best!
2. I tried to make sure to choose different angles and levels to make the photo more interesting. (See photo 1-2 in METAL)
3. I do wish I had more time to plan, but I hope they didn't turn out too bad.
4. I probably would keep the same subjects in my photos.
5.  (See previous post)
6. Yes, I would like to have the same prompts! Prompts are really fun in photography!

I really like the photos! I feel like most of them fit the prompts very well and the rules greatly! They are very colorful and bright! Although, the "Square" photo has a lot of empty space through out the majority of the photo. Other than that, all the photos are wonderful!

First Day Photos!

Oh joy~ it's me.. (taken by Jake)

PHOTO WITH A TEAM MEMBER IN IT
This is a photo of Jake next to the "Welcome Back DAWGS" poster in front of the library. I dislike the fact of how where I was standing didn't line up with the parallel lines throughout the picture. Jake thought this was a good place to pose for this theme (I don't doubt him). Not much action since it is posed, but I think its cute and shows Jake's personality.

 PHOTO OF CHOICE
I took this picture because it was something that could be humorous to some people! I wish I could've used The Rule of Thirds or Depth of Field. Its a clean, bright shot I fairly enjoyed taking. If it was taken at a different eye level, it could look way more interesting!

REMINDER OF THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
I loved seeing the flags hanging from the walls! I personally thin they are beautiful looking and add nice color to the hallway. If my ISO was up more, it could've looked brighter instead of this dim, shaded picture. Personal favorite because of the Korean Flag! 대박!

PHOTO OF A LIVING THING
I took a photo of an abandoned orange next to the E Hall windows. I don't like how the surface is in focus and not the fruit! I should have focused my camera better! I guess it's the cons of having the Manual mode on the camera. It could have been a nice, simple picture of another humorous object.
