I used iMovie on an iPad during 8th grade, though I vaguely remember how to put in videos and add transitions.

I learned how to crop videos and insert music into the movie

I feel like I can schedule a weekend to dedicate to this project. My mother has a friend who has tons of stuff to help with shooting videos and making short movies, hopefully I can get in contact with him

6.) If I asked you today, what do you think you will do for your video?

I was thinking about it last night. I would like to get together with some friends and film a creative video while we hang out. Ill have some music overlapping then it'll rewind or speed up using pictures and change to a new song. Ill have some parts when the music stops and the real audio from the video will play. I hope my vision can be created.

Opinion Story

A common stereotype is that women should only be able to use beauty products such as makeup. I believe that anyone (boy, girl, non-binary) can express their confidence using makeup and other products like wigs. No one should be restricted from doing what they love.

            Many successful men in the makeup scene have Youtube channels, make music, and have their own makeup brands. For example, Jeffree Star is a singer along with being a makeup artist. His makeup brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, produces long wear, vegan, and cruelty free makeup. He began this business after being a makeup artist at M.A.C and being a full-time youtuber. His love for makeup began when he was thirteen. He would mimic makeup styles seen in magazines using his mother’s makeup. Because of his newfound love, seventeen years later he has become a successful makeup artist and business worker.

            Some people believe that everything has to be gendered. Why is that? What is wrong with a boy wearing a dress or a girl wanted to try out football with some of her friends at school? Many people, including me, have been told that I could not do something because it would be against the norm. Slowly, more people are becoming more aware that it is okay to not follow the definitive. No one wants to feel alienated and not accepted, but when someone wants to be different, they get put down and told they are wrong.

            Even though there is hate in the world, it doesn’t stop people like Jeffree Star, Manny Mua, Patrick Starrr, and Bretman Rock from doing what they love. I really do look up to them and see how accepting their families have become based on their choices to experiment and create a living out some something that typically accepted. Do what you want to do! Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do because being yourself is way more fun than being like everyone else.

SOTM Story

Many people wish to become Student of the Month, though only a select few are up to par with the rewards standards. Sophomore Alexa Maine was awarded Student of the Month for being a star example of how a student should act and participate in school.

Fellow students votes for Maine because they felt her project in the Bowie Science Fair was suitable for this award. “I am very proud of what she has accomplished.” Freshman Leslie Durk said.

Maine’s project was based on how human life affects the environment around them. She created a complex research journal, which won the judges’ and students’ minds. “I was not expecting this award,” Maine said, “I didn’t think my project was up to par with my peers.”

She was awarded soon after, changing the way she thought about her project. “I have more confidence in my abilities.” Maine said.

The award is only given to those who show satisfactory behavior and grades. After the student vote, the nominee’s grades are checked by the councilor, thus creating the final decision on the monthly winner.

Becoming Student of the Month can be a challenge. “You have to have a certain GPA along with finishing lots of work in so little time.” Maine said.

Many students try to succeed such an award, though the work required can give the students a tougher time. The requirements to earn this award can really bring students down. The ones who do end up winning such an admirable award should feel proud and honored.

“I don't have much time for all of my work,” Maine said, “Its a lot of hard work to get done.”

Though the work is hard to accomplish, it is not impossible. Students who set their goals high and get organized can win the award in no time.

“Don’t over work yourself, you can do it.” Maine said.
